The arts takes centre stage for the inner city under the 2016-2017 budget with a sweeping redevelopment of the Walsh Bay cultural precinct.

Described as “once in a generation” cultural infrastructure projects, more than $147 million has been allocated to the renewal of the Opera House and redevelopment of the Walsh Bay Arts precinct.

The area, which stretches along Hickson Road, includes blue ribbon institutions Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance, Gondwana Choirs and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs.
