Enjoy a relaxed stroll around the wharves and take in the well organised and informative Self Guided History Walk.   At the same time you will encompass the Walsh Bay Sculpture Walk.  As with "Sculptures by the Sea" you can witness some amazing large scale sculptures exhibited in a picturesque waterfront environment, however at Walsh Bay, curtesy of the fantastic support of Transfield, the Sculptures are in place all year round allowing you to view them in a relaxed pace, without the crowds.
You can also remember 21 legends of Australian Stage and Screen with the Walsh Bay Theatre Walk around the apron of Pier 2/3.  The 21 theatre stars have at some point lived in NSW and each has made a vast contribution to the State's vibrant theatre scene.

23 MAY TO 9 JUNE: A Festival of Light, Music and Ideas!  Each year the Festival gets bigger and better.  Last Year over 800,000 people came into the city for the Vivid Festival.  Similar or greater numbers are expected for this year.
Plan Ahead: Avoid the mayhem of finding somewhere to eat.  Book a table for dinner in Walsh Bay and take in the Walsh Bay leg of Vivid, either before or after you tackle the crowds in Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.
Car Free: This year Vivid is being promoted as a Car Free Event.  Road closures will effect much of the City including Walsh Bay.  So leave your car at home, and make the most of the extra Public Transport to ensure you enjoy the event.  Remember you CANNOT SEE any installations from your car.
More information about Traffic Control for Walsh Bay Residents and Businesses will be distributed by the Precinct Manager closer to the event and will be posted on the Walsh Bay Website

Seniors Week
History Walk

After Dinner Walking Group: The Walsh Bay Precinct and City of Sydney Council hosted a Guided History Walk for Seniors, as part of Seniors Week.  The walk was combined pedestrian safety with the history walk and finished with coffee and cake at the Sydney Dance Lounge, Many thanks Danny.  It was designed to let seniors know what a safe city Sydney is after dinner, and that there are amazing places like Walsh Bay still to discover.
The Precinct Manager provided a guided tour for approximately 30 people from all over sydney including some Walsh Bay Residents around the Walsh Bay History Walk.
A great time was had by all.  Everybody was amazed at how well the the history of Walsh Bay is displayed and even the locals were surprised by some of the things they learnt.
The Walsh Bay History Walk is designed to be a Self-Guided Tour.  Simply follow the easy to find plaques around the Precinct and learn about Sydney's amazing maritime history.   The Walk covers everything from the plague in 1900 to the modern arts precinct of today.  Download the History Walk Notes from the Walsh Bay Website.

Headland Park: Once again the tides of Sydney Harbour are gently washing up against a sandstone foreshore at the northern end of Barangaroo.  The concrete edge of the old wharf has been cut away and replaced by hundreds of sandstone blocks that lead into the harbour. The design of new foreshore has been inspired by the original headland which once stood in this location.

Barangaroo Update

Barangaroo South: Construction has resumed after the much publicised fire.  The development continues to evolve with the Commercial tower (2) reaching level 17. The construction of the first 2 residential buildings has commenced and will come out of the ground by mid-year.
Barangaroo Central: The NSW Government has launched an international call for world leading proposals from the national and international property industry to develop Central Barangaroo.  The BDA advise that they will be applying to increase the Floor area approved in the original master plan.  Works will commence shortly on the waterfront promenade and the Public Space and is due to be completed at the same time as the headland park in mid 2015.
Upcoming Open Day:
Lend Lease and Baulderstone will host a public open day in the coming months, offering an opportunity to see Sydney’s newest waterfront precinct under construction.
Last year about 1,000 people took part in the headland park open day, getting a special preview of this unique project. We will place details about the 2014 open day on our website in coming weeks.
The Precinct Manager will distribute more details as soon as they are on hand.
