May 22 - June 8: Walsh Bay Precinct joined the Vivid Light Show.
As always the Precinct enjoyed the buzz of excited festival goers throughout the three weeks.
Weekdays were a popular way to enjoy vivid and avoid some of the crowds.
Festival goers revelled in Walsh Bay with a meal, then an easy walk under the Harbour Bridge and through the rocks before returning to Walsh Bay to finish with a drink before heading home - All too Easy !!!


It's Thinking Season

Sydney Writers Festival was another resounding Success.  The Walsh Bay Arts Precinct was transformed into a world class festival venue with in excess of 50,000 literary enthusiasts enjoying 4 days of lectures, readings, presentations, interviews and entertainment.  Not even the rain could dampen the atmosphere.

With the opening of Barangaroo Point Reserve in July 2015, you are invited to view the documentary The Making of Barangaroo. Commissioned by the Barangaroo Delivery Authority, this 27-minute film explores the site's history, from project inception, through to precinct development.
The Making of Barangaroo is told through interviews with people key to bringing Barangaroo into being, from designers and project teams to politicians and members of the public.
We hope you enjoy the documentary and share it with all those who are interested in the story of the creation of Sydney's newest place.

Local Hero (OAM)

Evangaline Galettis: Walsh Bay is full of heroes, and one has recently been acknowledged by the Australian Government.  On  Wednesday 29th April  2015,  Evangeline Galettis a Walsh Bay resident, was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in a ceremony at Government House.  Evangeline was awarded the OAM for fulfilling her passion for lifelong education, archivist, historian and  community volunteer for St Catherine’s.
The Walsh Bay Community is proud to acknowledge such an achievement.


Arrives at 'Pier 8': Communication and leadership skills are important in both the workplace and in the community.
Toastmasters is a 'Not for Profit' organisation.  It offers a program that gives people the opportunity to:

WORK HAS COMMENCED: The NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, the Hon Andrew Constance, has released the detailed construction schedule for the CBD and South East Light Rail project.
Work on the 12-kilometre route will be staged across 31 construction zones with no one zone affected for the entire period.
The key major construction dates include:
•             September 2015 - construction access for Moore Park West Corridor
•             October 2015 - CBD works start
•             January 2016 - start of Randwick branch
•             February 2016 - start of Kingsford branch
•             August 2016 - start of work in Surry Hills
•             September 2016 - release of the first pedestrianized zone in George St
•             May 17 - completion of final pedestrian zone block in George St
•             September 2017 - start of the final work zone along the route (Elizabeth St to Chalmers St)
•             September 2017 - arrival of Light Rail Vehicles 
•             April 2018 - completion of major civil construction; ongoing works continue to finalise the installation of electronic systems and construction of platforms
•             June 2018 - testing commences 
 The full construction program is available on Transport for NSW’s website at The project is on schedule to be delivered ahead of its original forecast and will be up and running in early 2019.

SMH Half Marathon

12,000 reasons to THANK YOU: The race is done.  Amanda extends a huge THANKS for the support of the local Walsh Bay Community helping her to raise $12,000 for Young Australian Caner Research and motivating her to new Personal Best for the distance of 1hr 54 mins.  Inside the 2hour goal set for herself.  So happy she almost didn't mind the blisters.

Abraham Mott Hall

Community Interests: Due to the changing demographic of the area, The City of Sydney Council are considering new programs for the Harry Jensen Centre and the Abraham Mott Hall.  The Council is approaching Walsh Bay residents and other stakeholders to determine if there are any specific interests that they can cater for.

Manage Meant: Have taken over the management contract for the moorings in Walsh Bay.  Boat owners can now be confident that the moorings will receive the same attention to detail that the rest of Walsh Bay enjoys.

NEW MANAGEMENT: Sash Alexander is the new owner and operator of Seawall Bar and Restaurant with a refreshed menu to providing better value and Seawall will be open for breakfast on weekends.
Sash is keen to get to know the locals, he has invited Residents to drop in and check out the new menu and pick up a "Members Rewards Card" that entitles you to 10% discount on your bills.

Hero of Waterloo

Battle of Waterloo - 200 Year Anniversary: 18th June marked the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.  The Hero of Waterloo celebrated in style.  The Hero invited a number of locals as well as dignitaries including the Governor of NSW.

Sunrise was there to cover the evening.

Walsh Bay Arts Precinct: The NSW government has approved a multimillion-dollar plan to transform Walsh Bay into a world-class arts precinct.
The $139 million revamp aims to turn the waterfront between the Harbour Bridge and Barangaroo into a cultural hub for international festivals and events.
