Precinct News
 14th June 2019

Good afternoon,

Out-of-hours work next week

Next week we will finish installing the remaining acoustic covers at the southern end of the Barangaroo Station area. This work will be carried out each night between 6pm and midnight from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 June 2019 and will involve using a crane and hand tools to position and secure the covers. The work is not expected to cause high noise at nearby properties and is subject to weather and site conditions and may change.

From tonight (14 June), we will also resume excavating the southern half of the underground rail crossover cavern under Hickson and Dalgety roads. Underground excavation will continue 24/7, except in areas directly below residential properties, where rock breaking activities will be done between 7am and 10pm. This work is expected to continue until early August 2019.

TBM Wendy breaks through at Crows Nest

Our third mega tunnel boring machine (TBM), Wendy, has broken through a wall of rock at the new Crows Nest Station, arriving less than five months after being launched from Chatswood. She will now spend several weeks undergoing maintenance before being re-launched at Crows Nest and tunnelling towards the next Sydney Metro station at Victoria Cross in North Sydney. You can watch the moment Wendy broke through on the Sydney Metro Facebook page.
