____________________________________________________________________________ Notice to All Residents - New Years Eve 2018
Please be advised that due to the Arts Redevelopment all Pier aprons will closed for public access for New Years Eve this year.
There will be no access as permitted in previous years. Piers 4/5 and 2/3 have now been fenced off for construction works which are currently in progress.
As such a decision has been made to close Pier 8/9 for access. The decision was made taking into consideration the safety aspect.
It is not possible to accommodate the amount of interested parties for the one area in a safe manner on Pier 8/9 alone.
We Thank You for Your Understanding and Co-operation.
An Update From Barangaroo station site
Hickson Road (between Dalgety Road and High Steps)
We've recently started removing the archaeological items and sandstone blocks from site to make way for the new Barangaroo Station. Any structures and artefacts with a heritage value have been properly uncovered, recorded and retained. Take a look here
at what we found behind the fence.
After the items have been removed, we will start placing steel beams for the second stage of a support structure, that will sit across the top of the station area - this cover will help manage noise as we continue excavation.
I've provided a couple of photos as the bottom of this email, showing our progress from August 2018 to November 2018. Rail crossover cavern - under Hickson and Dalgety roads (24/7 work)
Our second roadheader has arrived on site and is currently having final checks before it starts work in the crossover cavern mid next week.
24/7 activities include:
- operation of the roadheaders
- rock bolting, concreting and support work
- using the gantry crane to load excavated material into storage containers (the excavated material will be sent to the Barangaroo site using trucks until 10pm each day)
- deliveries of concrete, machinery and equipment.
