Out-of-hours work next week at Barangaroo Station site
Out-of-hours work will continue next week under the acoustic covers at the Barangaroo Station site. Work will occur between 6pm and 6am from Monday 26 to Friday 30 August 2019 and involves steelwork, installing ground support, crane lifts to lower materials and supplying concrete from the surface level. This work is not expected to cause high noise at nearby properties. We will also continue 24/7 tunnelling support activities, including concrete segment deliveries, moving excavated material and operating the grout and separation plants.
There will also be out-of-hours work from Wednesday 28 August to remove two electrical substations immediately north of the acoustic shed at Hickson Road, Barangaroo. The work will involve removing temporary fencing and loading the substations onto a truck using mobile cranes. The work is expected to take about two nights to complete, subject to weather conditions. For more information, please refer to the attached notification.
In a significant milestone for the project, tunnel boring machine, Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Nancy, has arrived at the new Pitt Street metro railway station under Castlereagh Street. Since launching from Marrickville last year, TBM Nancy has excavated about 600,000 tonnes of rock – enough to fill 14 Olympic swimming pools. TBM Nancy's next stop will be Martin Place, followed by Barangaroo. You can follow our TBMs via the Sydney Metro tunnelling page.
