Construction Trucks - Hickson Road
We are reaching out to all residents who are currently being affected by the noise pollution, as a result of construction trucks using Hickson Rd each day between the hours of 5:00 am-9:00 am.
The Precinct office has made several complaints to City of Sydney via phone, email and logging onto the report a problem page on the city’s website, asking that rangers attend between the hours of 5:00-8:00 am.
In conjunction with this, we are asking residents to lodge a complaint. We would like to reach at least 20 individual complaints to council so that this situation can be investigated and hopefully managed in the correct manner.
In recent weeks, Walsh Bay and Millers Point residents have been experiencing up to 16 trucks at any one time entering the area at approximately 5:00 am each morning and parking along a large stretch of Hickson Rd. The noise includes the trucks pulling in to park, reversing and the reverse alert indicators (beeping) and motors left running. This is directly outside of residential apartments. It has also been reported that diesel fumes are entering apartments.
These trucks do not belong to any of our neighbouring construction sites they are travelling to other inner-city or western Sydney sites.
Despite our attempts to have the appropriate rangers attend to investigate whether the trucks are permitted to use Hickson Rd as they are, under the DA conditions of the construction sites they have been hired. Our attempts have so far failed.
The Precinct office will be reaching out to the Department of Planning, the local member Alex Greenwich and Clover Moore for further assistance with this matter.
In the interim, if Millers Point and Walsh Bay residents can assist by logging their own complaint with Council, we are certain this will help elevate the issue to receive the appropriate attention.
Below are the contact details/information to log a complaint.
